No Suspension Program

Schools today face significant challenges when it comes to holding troubled students accountable for their actions. With limited resources, many schools resort to suspension, despite evidence showing that suspension is rarely effective in redirecting behaviors.

Addressing Disparities

Research has shown that Black and Brown students are suspended at significantly higher rates than white students for similar behaviors. This disproportionate use of suspension exacerbates existing inequalities and often pushes marginalized students further away from positive change.

Our Alternative Solution

Instead of suspending students, schools can refer students and their parents to the No Suspension Program at Rich Trajectories. This program provides a meaningful and impactful alternative to traditional suspensions:

•  Mentorship for the Day: A professional Black or Brown business leader will take the student to work with them for the day, serving as a mentor and role model.

•  Reflection Through Learning: At the end of the day, the student will write a paper reflecting on what they learned and how they can apply it to their lives.

Showing, Not Just Telling

Most importantly, the student is SHOWN something positive, encouraging, and life-changing. By witnessing success and hard work firsthand, the experience sparks intrinsic motivation to change their life trajectory.

Inspiring a Movement

The No Suspension Program not only redirects behaviors but also provides an opportunity to show youth that success is achievable through effort and positive choices. By connecting students to real-life mentors, we provide them with tangible examples of success to aspire to, encouraging a path toward brighter futures.
